From July 1, additional publicly funded vaccines are available directly through pharmacies — no doctor's referral, and no cost for eligible patients. Ask us what you or your family now qualify for. Coming July 2026 — Expanded Publicly Funded Vaccines: Ontario pharmacists will soon be able to administer the following publicly funded vaccines for eligible patients — Tetanus, Pertussis, Diphtheria, Pneumococcal, RSV, and Shingles. Do I need a referral to see a pharmacist at Opal?
No referral is required. In Ontario, pharmacists can prescribe and treat a growing list of conditions independently — you can book a Women's Health consultation, a UTI assessment, or a contraception renewal directly with us.
Where is Opal Wellness Pharmacy located and what are your hours?
Opal Wellness Pharmacy is at 1183 Bank Street in Old Ottawa South, Ottawa, Ontario K1S 3X7. We're open Monday to Friday 9:00 AM–7:00 PM and Saturday 10:00 AM–3:00 PM, and closed Sundays. Call (613) 733-7444 or fax (613) 741-4881.
How do I transfer my prescriptions to Opal?
Start your prescription transfer right here or call us — we'll contact your current pharmacy and move everything for you. Most transfers are complete within one business day.
What insurance plans do you accept?
We accept all major Canadian prescription drug plans including OHIP+, Sun Life, Manulife, Canada Life, Green Shield, Blue Cross, and most workplace plans. Direct billing is available.
What services does Opal Wellness Pharmacy offer?
Beyond prescriptions and free local delivery, Opal offers vaccinations and injections, travel health, compounding (including veterinary compounds), medication packaging, minor ailments and Access to Care consultations, weight loss consultations, and Women's Health care. Most appointments can be booked online with no referral required.
